Default Daytime Tailgate

Well guys, I misplaced this pics for quite a while, and since I found them, wanted to drop a quick gig report.

OK, this was my (good) clients idea. This was my first summer going gigs, and I was kinda green. I let him talk me into doing a daytime job. Let me just stop you right there, don't think about doing them, it is just way too much work. Do I think that I could pull it off? I am 70% sure that I could, but they didn't follow my suggestions with the setup, and consequently, this job flopped, big time. I am glad it happened last October, and hopefully people forget about it by next summer, cause I was not happy with the job, and I am embarrassed as to how it turned out.

The setup consisted of construction scaffolding draped in tarps and cloth. I told them we needed a tight tunnel to the screen, 25-30' deep, and we ended up with this monstrosity:

Game time at 3pm with the sun blazing is a lot to compete with.

Winds at about 20mph off the lake and temps in the low 50s was just enough to drive basically the whole crowd inside (where I had my 10' screen setup.)

As the sun went behind the hill somewhat, we got some picture about 2/3 of the way through the game. I stayed for about an hour after the game and just prior to sunset the setup looked really nice.

The whole job was a pain, it didn't turn out very good, and I don't recommend others trying it.

Dang, that's a serious attempt right there!!!

It may not have worked, but I like this:

Sounds like there may be hope that it could work (with some adjustments)?

Ya, I think I could still do it, but they didn't follow my directions. I did a little testing in my garage, and I think that it could work, but you need to build a blackout tunnel, 2 sides, and a top, with heavy enough material that much light doe not get through, and it must be tighter to the screen, with a slight flair, and be at least 25 feet deep. Then you would have a screen at the end of a black tunnel, and I think it would work. Will it? Who knows, I guess we will see if we try it again. (probably not)
